ImageWillette, Phyllis E., 93, February 21, 2010.  Arrangements by Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.  Interment to be held in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton.     Houlton – Phyllis Electa (Marley) Hersey Willette, 93, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010, at a local health care facility. She was born Nov. 15, 1916, at Smyrna, the daughter of Crawford and Electa (Grant) Marley. Phyllis was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute, Class of 1934.
    She married Vaughn Hersey Sr., Oct. 2, 1940, and after his death later married Lawrence Willette, Jan. 9, 1968. She was a member of the Military Street Baptist Church and the Homemakers Club for many years. Phyllis worked at the Bell Shop, Penney’s, and Day’s Jewelry Store in Houlton, as a saleslady for many years.
    She was known for her exceptional baking skills and never forgot birthdays of family and friends. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long-time resident of Houlton.
    She is survived by her grandchildren, Vaughn Hersey, his wife, Joan (Biggar) Hersey, of Powhatan, VA, Lauri (Hersey) Jacobs and her husband, Brian Jacobs, of Glenburn, Christopher Hersey, his wife, Michele (Brimmer) Hersey, of Brewer; her daughter-in-law, Patricia (Sanborn) Hersey Ingalls, of Hermon; and six great-grandchildren: Tyler and Michaela Hersey of Brewer, Nicholas and Elizabeth Jacobs, of Glenburn, Jacqueline Ames of  Portland and Jillian Ames of Cape Elizabeth. Other surviving relatives are: her cousin, Charlotte (Marley) Porter, of Cape Elizabeth; her nephews, Benjamin Marley and his wife Betty of Oakfield, Roger Marley and his wife Miriam, of Houlton; Donald Marley and his wife, Charolotte, of Smyrna; and Crawford Marley of So. Windham, CT and a niece, Luetta (Marley) Goodall, of Smyrna Mills. She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands, Vaughn Hersey Sr. and Lawrence Willette; her son, Vaughn Hersey, Jr.; two brothers, Benjamin and Donald Marley, of Smyrna.
    The family wishes to thank the staff of Madigan Estates Nursing Facility for many years of caring service.
    Funeral services will be held at the Dunn Funeral Home Wednesday, February 24, at 11 a.m. With Rev. Randall Burns officiating. Spring interment will be in the Houlton Evergreen Cemetery.
