Easton prepares for Winter Carnival

    Mark your calendars for Easton Recreation Department’s Winter Carnival on Feb. 25, 26 and 27. Activities will include laser tag, family game night, cribbage tournament, sliding party, community supper, mother-daughter/father-son basketball games and more! 

 

Swimming lessons start soon

    The cost is $24 ($19 for each additional child from the same household) for six lessons. Transportation will be provided directly after school. Please make checks payable to the town of Easton, prior to the first lesson. This will be open to children in grades 1 and up. Students will be assigned to classes based on their abilities. We will return to the hall by 4:30 p.m. Lessons will be held each Tuesday from Feb. 23 through March 30.  

Rec calendar

    Wednesday, Feb. 24 — Junior activities (for ages 2 through ECP) at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Senior exercise class starting at 1 p.m. in the recreation room at the manor. Gymnastics class in Mars Hill starting at 3:15 p.m. and returning at 4:30 p.m. Grades 5 and 6 girls’ basketball practice from 2:45 to 4 p.m. in the elementary school gym. Grades 5 and 6 boys’ basketball practice from 6-7:30 p.m. 
    Thursday, Feb. 25 — After-school program titled Unique Fruits from 2:45 until 4:15 p.m. at the hall. Open to grades 1 and up. Winter Carnival Laser Tag in the elementary school gym. Children 12 and under will play from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for $5 and children over 12 from 6:45-8:45 p.m. for $10. 
    Friday, Feb. 26 — Junior activities (for ages 2 through ECP) at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. Winter Carnival family Game Night starting at 5:30 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. Pizza, chips and soda will be served; donations will be accepted towards supper. Bring your favorite game. Cribbage Tournament starting at 7 p.m. in the elementary school café. The cost is $2. 
    Saturday, Feb. 27 — Winter Carnival Sliding Party on Kinney Hill (Route 1A) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please bring your own sled; snowshoes and cross-country skis will be available. Community Potluck Supper in the elementary school cafeteria at 6 p.m. Please bring a dish to share with the group. Paper goods and drinks will be provided. Mother-daughter/Father-son basketball games start at 6:45 in the elementary school gym. 
    Monday, March 1 — Senior nutrition class starting at 11 a.m. in the recreation room at the manor. The cost is $2. Cross-country skiing at Ferris’s after school until 4:30 p.m. Little Bears basketball games. The first- and second-grade teams will play at 6 p.m. and the third- and fourth-grade teams at 6:30 p.m. 
    Tuesday, March 2 — Swimming lessons at the Presque Isle Indoor Pool. The bus departs directly after school and will return to the hall at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $24 and lessons are open to grades 1 and up. Pre-registration and payment required! Grades 5 and 6 boys and girls play Washburn at home at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m.
