ATVs are not toys
All-Terrain Vehicles are not toys. Serious injury can result from improper use of ATVs, but with preparation and practice, you can safely develop and expand your riding skills. Riding ATVs can be an enjoyable form of outdoor recreation when done properly.
If you are under the age of 18, operators and passengers, must wear protective headgear regardless of if they are riding on or off your property.
Riders between the ages of 10-16 must complete a training program approved by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. For more information, check out the Web site at www.state.me.us/ifw.
Those under the age of 10 may only ride on land in which that person is domiciled, or land owned by that person’s parents or guardian.
Remember respect all laws, and obey property signs. For this information and more, pick up a Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife flyers that are on displayed thru-out Maine, or by calling 287-5220.
