INSTRUCTIONS — In the top photograph, David Russell, left, Houlton Pioneer Times’ advertising salesman, speaks to Mrs. Maynard’s class at East Grand School on the importance of advertising. He explained to the students what needs to be placed within an ad for it to work for the customer. In the bottom photograph, David Bates, account representative at the Pioneer Times, helps students with the creative process of the Newspapers In Education project at Katahdin Elementary School. The Pioneer Times staff makes a presentation to each participating class, discusses what items appear in the newspaper and the importance of advertisers, like the ones in this supplement, to the paper’s existence and to the community.
