On March 28 the final Lenten breakfast was held at the Whitttier Congregational hurch with Patti Hartin as the head chef. She was assisted by Phil (another Sam) doing the bacon and sausages and Steve Berry cooking the eggs.
Other items on the menu were home-made bread toasted, apple coffee cake, tea, coffee and the choice of two juices. Also assisting during the breakfast were Marion Hoar, Verna Boone and Sharon Grant.
Our Catholic friends were there to enjoy all this and the crowd enjoyed really good fellowship and ,as usual, are looking forward to the event next year.  Mr. and Mrs Clayton Webb were Easter guests of their niece and family, Greg, Darlene, Matthew, Shawna and Trey Kenny in Bangor. Charlene cooked up a storm the day before and took down lots of goodies for the whole family to enjoy.
Tom Hawkes and son, Chris, were up from Bangor the first of the month to help Riva with some cosmetic work on the lawn as some lawn had been displaced during plowing. Looks a lot better now and they plan to return later and work on the back lawn, cutting small trees and bushes. Have the gray squirrel still around and he is still hanging by his feet to get at the feeder that has the most seeds in it. Should have a camera around to record his actions.
Finally saw a male gold finch the other day—a real bright gold color compared to the dull  color of the female.  And have had one lone deer coming to the back yard to graze on what green grass she can find.
Now with the snow gone everything is getting nice and green and she stays quite a long time. One day she even decided to take a nap and laid down down next to the woods. Stayed there quite awhile before ambling off into the bushes. Coons have been active in the area as my bird feeders are sometimes upside down where they were trying to get at the seeds. Try  not to put too many seeds out at night because of this. The gray cat is still around but not so often—maybe his owner is keeping him home.
