Image    CARIBOU – Renee A. Michaud, 52, passed away peacefully April 4, 2010, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle to cancer.
She was born in Iowa City, Iowa, Jan. 14, 1958, daughter of John and Phyllis Neubauer of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She graduated from High School in Iowa City. She completed her training in radiology as a radiology technologist at the University of Iowa in 1981. She worked in Arkansas as a radiology technologist from 1981 until 1987 when she relocated to Caribou, Maine with her husband Dr. Jean-Pierre Michaud, orthopedic surgeon and her son Michael Hofmann. She worked with Dr. Michaud in the orthopedic practice. She was a very skilled radiology technologist, greatly appreciated by the patients, her coworkers and the physicians for her professionalism and her compassion.
On Jan. 24, 1997, she gave birth to her second child Alex, her jewel. If you wanted to see a real spark in her eyes you just had to mention Mike or Alex. As she had done with Mike growing up, now her great joy was taking care of Alex every day. She participated in all his sports activities: hockey, soccer, baseball. She never missed a practice, a game, a tournament or a hockey camp. She was there for every school function and was first to volunteer to help for any activities. The more kids there were playing and having fun at the house, at the camp or in our hotel room during sports events, the happier she was. She was a constant source of encouragement and positive reinforcement for Mike and Alex.
Her life was spent caring for her family. She was dedicated to her husband, her children, her stepchildren, her family and friends. She was always there day and night to help anyone needing assistance, support or guidance. Her life has been one of giving without asking questions.
She will be painfully missed by: her husband Jean-Pierre Michaud, her children, Alex Michaud (Caribou), Mike Hofmann and his fiancée Autumn Tuttle (Iowa City), her stepchildren, Frederick and Katherine Michaud, her fiancée Patrick (Montreal), and from Fort Smith, Arkansas: her parents, John and Phyllis Neubauer, her sister Kathy Thomas, Marshall Thomas, brother-in-law, Joe Neubauer, brother, Carolyn, sister-in-law, Joseph Neubauer, nephew, Jonathan Neubauer, nephew, Hailey Thomas, niece, Kelly Thomas, nephew and many friends in the United States and Canada.
Friends were invited to call Tuesday, April 6, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou with the Reverend Aaron Damboise celebrant. Interment will immediately follow services at the new Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Following the committal services, refreshments will be provided in the fellowship hall.
