Studio 923 and The Strings Of Calamity present an Arootsakoostik fund-raiser on Friday, May 7, at U.M.P.I.’s Wieden Auditorium.
The evening will be a celebration of local musicians and will feature performances from Tigroid Substance, Brian Mosher, Mark Shaw, John Nels, Ryan Ashby, Party At Troy’s and Travis Cyr. Tickets for the event are only $5 and can be purchased at the door on the night of the show.
All proceeds of this event will go towards staging and producing this summer’s Arootsakoostik Festival. Money is needed to help make and print posters, tickets and programs, to help pay for sound equipment and sound technicians, to rent portable toilets and to help feed all the volunteer musicians and staff.
“Strings Of Calamity present Arootsakoostik, a celebration of Maine Made Music” will take place once again at Thomas Park in New Sweden on Saturday, Aug. 7. Arootsakoostik brings together musicians from all over the state of Maine as well as Aroostook County for a day-long celebration.
All proceeds from the festival are donated back to local causes. You can learn more about the festival at www.myspace.com/amuiscfest. You can also make a donation by contacting Travis Cyr at travcyr@yahoo.com.
