ATV club kicks off season

The Aroostook Riders ATV Club has officially kicked off the 2010 riding season. The trails are now open and the club hopes riders will enjoy the season. Organizers are working diligently to repost the signs and clean the trails of winter debris, so please use caution. Make it a habit to check the website regularly for more information regarding the trails at  www.aroostookridersatvclub.com.
The club will begin the events portion of the season with its annual membership drive and barbecue on Monday, May 3 at the Linneus Sno Club at 5 p.m. The monthly meeting will follow, starting around 6 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.
The activities committee worked on a 2010 Rides Schedule and tried to come up with various types of rides, including a breakfast ride, an overnight ride, a powder puff ride, and a night ride. The Ride Schedule is also posted on the website. Organizers hope that members can enjoy at least a few of the different events.  If anyone is interested in putting together an additional ride, please e-mail aroostookriders@yahoo.com.
If a person is not interested in organizing a ride, but would like to volunteer in some other way, the club would gladly appreciate the help. Those who are interested in just enjoying the trails, please do so safely and lawfully. Have a great ATV season.
Besides the membership drive and barbecue another May event, a breakfast ride, will be held on Sunday, May 23. The ride begins at 353 Hodgdon Mills Rd. at 7:30 a.m., with riders departing at 8 a.m. Breakfast will be at Grammy’s (riders are responsible for their own breakfast cost). Ride will be approximately two hours in addition to breakfast time. Ride leaders are Chuck Rockwell and Dave Henderson.
For more information e-mail Rockwell at trockwell@troy.edu or call 532-2566; and Henderson at mfps@pwless.net or 551-4161.
