Houlton Regional Hospital hosts volunteer recognition

In recognition of the many hours and contributions devoted throughout the year by hospital volunteers, the Volunteer Department of Houlton Regional recently held its 25th annual volunteer luncheon.
The theme for the luncheon was “Volunteers Build a Better World.”
Over the past year 12,000 hours have been donated by volunteers at the hospital. Since the department began in 1984, volunteers have donated 263,177 hours of service at the hospital.
There are currently 85 volunteers providing services at Houlton Regional Hospital with over 30 different departments utilizing their services.  Some of the jobs done by volunteers including spending quality time with residents, reading to patients as well as entertaining them, helping to put supplies away, assisting in laundry or ringing up a sale in our gift shop, as well as many clerical duties, special projects and greeting our patients and visitors at the information desk.
Hospital volunteers play a very important role in our hospital team.  “It’s so nice to work with people that enjoy giving back to their community.  They are greatly appreciated by all”, said Patrice Lunnie, Volunteer Manager.
Among the volunteers and honored for their hours of service were, Ida Bradley RSVP  14,000 hours, Jane Hughes 9800 hours, Elizabeth Childers RSVP 9700 hours, Al McCluskey 9500 hours, Gary Tidd 7600 hours, Joan Logan 5800 hours, Mildred Reece RSVP 4800 hours, Glynn Porter 4100 hours,  Lori Stiles 3000 hours, Arline Dickison, RSVP 2600 hours, Lavona Varney 2400 hours, Arlene Bean RSVP 2100 hours, Lewis Webber and Virginia McLaughlin both 1800 hours, Larry Hutchinson 1700 hours, Fran Dunn 1500 hours, Nancy Bridgham 1200 hours, Rita McDade 1400 hours, Arlene Burton, Patricia Chase, Stephanie Larson, and Ruth Levesque all had 1000 hours, William Dunn, Betty Hutchinson, Lois Jeffery, and Carla Sawyer all with 900 hours, Barbara Grant 700 hours, Joy Botting and Donna Regent both 600 hours, Darren Lyons, 500 hours, Andrew Dorr 400 hours, Louise Hamilton 350 hours, Kelly Irish, Jane Kuk and Norbert Kuk and Shannon Richardson all with 300 hours, Roland Cameron 250 hours, John Clearly 200 hours, Connie Davidson, Wayne Reid, Donna Tracy all with 100 hours, and Helen Blois, Mary Hatfield, Elinor Harvey and Kerri Spaulding with 50 hours each.
