PRESQUE ISLE — Nathan Berry has been promoted to president of Barresi Financial, a full-service insurance and investment brokerage agency with offices in Presque Isle and Bangor.

“We’ve had a business continuity plan in place for several years, as making sure that our clients are taken care of now and into the future is very important to me,” said Marcus Barresi, founder of the firm. “Our industry has historically done a poor job transitioning, so with our plan Nate and Scott Boucher have been partners of the firm for five years, and we have been transitioning ownership since then and will continue over the next few years. I’m confident that with the team we have in place, we’ll be able to provide our clients with consistent service for many years to come.”
Barresi’s role will continue to expand more into new client acquisition.
“As I’ve delegated responsibilities over the years, it’s paid off for the firm. It has allowed us to grow, and has allowed me to get out and meet with prospects and current clients on a more regular basis, which is really what I enjoy most,” said Barresi.
Little will change as far as day-to-day operations go, according to Berry.
“This portion of our continuity plan really won’t change much within the firm. Scott and I have taken on the majority of the management role over the last several years and felt the time was right to make a more defined change to the leadership of the firm. Scott continues to work to grow the firm in Central and Southern Maine with the management of the Bangor and Scarborough offices,” said Berry.
Boucher, originally from Presque Isle, moved to Bangor in 2000 to ramp up the firm’s expansion through the state.
“We wanted to be able to find new business opportunities in Maine, and by making the transition to Bangor we have been able to establish a successful office in that area that serves a broad region. A considerable amount of our growth in recent years was as a result of this expansion,” said Barresi.
With the recent passage of the healthcare legislation in Congress, Barresi Financial will continue looking for ways to diversify their business model, which will be a major focus for Berry.
“Growing a business in northern Maine is never an easy task, particularly in this economy and with this continuing growth of government, but we’re dedicated to the area and show that, with hard work and true entrepreneurial spirit, it can be done,” Berry said.
