The Board of Directors, managers, staff and volunteers of the Houlton Humane Society would like to extend our sincere congratulations to the Ark Animal Sanctuary for their recent acquisition of land and a building for their animal rescue efforts.
There has been some confusion as to the need for two “shelters” in Houlton and we must tell you that the need is great. While Houlton Humane can only handle the stray and abandoned cats and dogs, Ark Animal Sanctuary has a vision to provide a safe haven for larger animals and animals with special needs.
The Houlton Humane Society applauds the efforts of the Ark Animal Sanctuary Board and all of their fine volunteers for their dedication and hard work.
