Bowling season ends at Northern Lanes
PRESQUE ISLE — Northern Lanes’ 2009-10 competitive bowling season wrapped up recently.
In the National League rolloffs, Rob’s Pit Stop defeated Dead River in the finals, 3,073 to 3,030. In the semifinals, top-seeded Rob’s Pit Stop beat No. 4 S.W. Collins, 2,948 to 2,876; while No. 2 Dead River upended No. 3 Michael’s Electric, 3,170 to 3,064.
In the Atlantic League, No. 1 Bessey’s Bowlers bested No. 3 D & R Trucking, 1,777 to 1,762. In the semifinals, Bessey’s Bowlers beat Woody’s Woodchicks, 1,784 to 1,758; while D & R Trucking upset No. 2 Whited Ford, 1,799 to 1,789.
The American League finals saw top-rated Aroosta Cast stopping the No. 3 Bottlenecks, 3,063 to 3,026. Aroosta Cast downed No. 4 Northern Lanes in one semifinal, 3,040 to 2,997; and the Bottlenecks pulled off a 3,118 to 3,029 victory over No. 2 Eagle Hill in the other semi.
For the Independent League, the second-seeded CFP squad was the winner of No. 1 A&M Auto in the finals, with CFP scoring 1,925 to A&M’s 1,894. CFP edged out No. 3 PI Elks #1 in the semifinals, 1,860 to 1,849; with A&M defeating Fire Extinguishers in the other, 1,825 to 1,795.
The Sunday Mixed Doubles League came to a close with No. 3 Hooters and Shooters upending No. 1 Who Cares in the finals, 1,457 to 1,429. One semifinal match saw Hooters and Shooters easing past second-ranked Walnutz, 1,612 to 1,501, with Who Cares knocking off Yo Yos, the fourth seed, 1,449 to 1,421 in the other.
