    Chalou, Adre, 82, CARIBOU, June 4, 2010.  Arrangements are in the care of Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, Caribou.


 

    CARIBOU – Adre Chalou, 82, passed away Friday, June 4 at his home with his family at his side. Adre was born in Ashland, the only child of Victor and Ida (Braslett) Chalou.
    Adre is survived by his companion, Doris Sanfacon of Caribou, and her family, Sherry, Chad, and Jeremy Sirois. He is also survived by his sons, Alan and his wife, Cynthia (McPherson) Chalou of Castle Hill, David and his wife, Victoria (Herbert) Maynard of Palermo, and his daughter, Bobbie Chalou and her husband, Marc Rigrodsky of Portland, and a special loved one, Kelly Bicknell and her husband, Chris of Buxton, and their children, Gareth and Julian. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mandy Chalou of Washington D.C., Ian Medford of Auburn, Sean Medford of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Montana, Hayden and Haymanot Maynard of Palermo, and a great-grandson, Adre Medford of Auburn. He is also survived by his Aunt, Phoebe Jimmo of Ashland and Eagle Lake, and his Uncle, Alphonse Chalou of Ashland and Presque Isle, as well as, many cousins and aunts.
    In addition to his parents, Adre was predeceased by Shirley Morris Chalou, and his loving and adoring wife, Gertrude Jackson Chalou.
    Throughout his life, Adre held a number of positions, two of which he was especially proud, those being his time as supervisor of the Porter Farm for the Maine Potato Seed Board in Masardis, and the years he spent as a cook in the Maine woods. Adre has the distinct honor of closing out an era as the last woods camp cook for the Great Northern Paper Company. During his time in the woods, he also served with honor as president of his local paper workers union, Local 1977.  Additionally, early on in his adult life, Adre was very involved in the Knights of Columbus and achieved great honors and degrees in service. 
    Friends and family called on Monday, June 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover Street, Caribou. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 8, 11 a.m., at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Caribou, with the Reverend Jean-Paul Labrie celebrant.  Interment directly followed services at the Old Holy Rosary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adre's name may be made to the Hospice House of Comfort. Donation envelops will be available at the funeral home.
