FORT FAIRFIELD — A little tender loving care in the form of volunteers is needed at four museums in this border community to get the facilities spruced up in time for the annual Potato Blossom Festival.

“The Frontier Heritage is asking for community support in the form of manpower to assist with the cleanup and organization of our four museums in Fort Fairfield,” said Wayne Troicke, spokesperson for the organization.
A meeting is planned later this month to begin the work necessary to spruce up the sites.
“On Saturday, June 19, at 9 a.m., we will be meeting at the CP Dining Car on Depot Street and are inviting members of the community to join us in cleaning, repairing and organizing the Railroad Museum, the Blockhouse Museum, Friends Church and the one-room schoolhouse to prepare them for the summer season,” he said.
Troicke said vandals have been a problem at at  least one of the locations.
“We have experienced a large amount of vandalism at the Railroad Museum this past year and need your help to paint and clean up and repair the damage. We also have general cleaning and organization of our artifacts to prepare the museums for summer visitors,” said Troicke.
The Frontier Heritage Dining Car Candlelight Dinner is also planned, with festivities planned for June 26. For more information, contact Pat Troicke at 476-5093.
“Come join the team on June 19 and help us preserve our history,” said Troicke.
