William “Bill” Joshua Cullen

Cullen, William J., 92, June 10, 2010.  Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.  Interment to be held in the Sherman Corner Cemetery.     STACYVILLE – William "Bill" Joshua Cullen, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior, June 10, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends at Mount Height's Healthcare Facility, Patten. Bill was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Stacyville, to John and Georgie (Curtis) Cullen.
    He lived in Stacyville most of his life. Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force and upon returning to Stacyville, he met the love of his life, Edna (Brackett). They were married Oct. 27, 1946. Together they served the Lord and raised four sons.
    Bill worked many jobs, but his gift was carpentry. He could build or repair anything. He used this talent to build several homes and do various carpentry jobs. Later in life, Bill and Edna also owned and managed the Texaco station in Stacyville for 12 years.
    Bill was a long-standing member of Calvary Baptist Church, Stacyville, where he served as a deacon and trustee. He had a strong faith and was always happy to serve his Lord and Savior. To all who knew him, he was a loyal friend, but to others he was a devoted husband, a fantastic dad and an awesome papa.
    He will be sadly missed, but always lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Edna; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Rebecca, William and Nancy, Brent and Susan, and Matthew and Holly; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and all 11 of his siblings. The family thanks the staff at Madigan Estates, Houlton, Mount Height's Healthcare Facility, Patten; and Visiting Nurses of Aroostook for the loving care that was provided to Bill during the past one and one-half years. Friends called noon – 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Calvary Baptist Church, Stacyville, where funeral services were held 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donnie Willigar officiating. Interment was at Sherman Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Height's Healthcare Facility, P.O.
