HHS doles out $100,000 in scholarships at Last Chapel

    HOULTON — Senior Last Chapel was held at Houlton High School on Monday evening, June 7.  After the seniors marched in accompanied by the Faculty Brass, Vanessa Sanderson, Senior Class President, welcomed parents and guests.  Tanner Caron, junior class president, gave the Underclass Farewell to the seniors.

    More than $100,000 in scholarships was awarded during the evening. This amount included $27,000 from Dollars for Scholars and $50,000 from the Alumni Association. The Logan DeWitt Memorial Scholarship was presented to Samantha Dickison, the Joleen Fitzpatrick Raymond Memorial Scholarship went to Martha McPartland, The Aimee Fitzpatrick Memorial went to Magdalena Garcia and Certificate of Achievements Awards were presented to James Melton, Dustin Lavoie, Samantha Wortman and Ryan Norton.
    The Michael Clark Honorarium was presented to Kaitlin Good, and Music Boosters’ Scholarships went to Aaron Anderson, Natasha Ponder, Madison Lezotte, Benjamin Codrey-Duff, Brianna Williams, Holly Bouvier, Jordan Codrey, Vanessa Sanderson, Jordan Bragan, Nicholas Rush, Kaitlin Good, Ashley Hannigan, Stephannie Kreyssig, Magdalena Garcia, Jared Tapley, Amanda Parmigiani and Gabriel Hannigan.  The Heather Corey Dee Memorial Scholarship went to Stephannie Kreyssig and The Science Award went to Hiba Bilal, The J. Thomas and Margaret Fitzpatrick Scholarship went to Jacob Peabody, the Percy Carmichael Memorial Scholarship to Amber Carmichael, the Eugene A. Hutchison Memorial Scholarship to Patrick Hutchinson, the Anthony Delucca Memorial Scholarship to Benjamin Codrey-Duff, the Good Farms Scholarship to Chelsea Lynds, and the Savings Bank of Maine Scholarship to Magdalena Garcia.
    Health Services Foundation Scholarships were presented to Emily DeWitt and Samantha Dickison, The Portia Rebekah Lodge No. 78 Scholarship to Ashley Hannigan and Ricker Scholarships to Christopher Sewell, Jared Tapley, Stephannie Kreyssig and Kaitlin Good.  Magdalena Garcia received the Bridge to Hope Scholarship. Vanessa Sanderson received the Friends and Needles Quilting Club Scholarship.   Vanessa also received the Judith Oliver Outstanding Female Athlete Award and Corey Woodworth received the Willie Varney Outstanding Male Athlete Award.  Vanessa and Corey also received the HHS Sports Boosters Scholarships. Art awards went to Jennifer Bell, Emily DeWitt and Brianna Williams and the Photography Award went to Amanda Foster.  The Mildred Rutledge English Award was presented to Ariel Foss and the Joseph Dobbins Social Studies Award went to Hiba Bilal. Student Council awards and scholarships were given to Hiba Bilal, Ariel Foss, Jared Tapley, Jordan Codrey and Christopher Sewell. Receiving scholarships from the Houlton Rotary Club were Ashley Hannigan, Gregory Schools, Amanda Foster, Brianna Williams, Curtis Swimm, Jaime Barrows, Madison Lezotte and Amber Carmichael. HHS Alumni Association Scholarships for $1,000 went to Alex Williams, Amber Carmichael, Benjamin Codrey-Duff, Brianna Williams, Chelsea Lynds, Christopher Sewell, Corey Woodworth, Curtis Swimm, David Adams, Emily DeWitt, Holly Bouvier, Jordan Codrey, Kendall McLean, Kristen Fitzpatrick, Kylie Ward, Madison Lezotte, Magdelena Garcia, Nicholas Rush, Samantha Dickison, Stephannie Kreyssig, Natasha Ponder, Vanessa O’Donnell, Vanessa Sanderson and Ryan McGary.    Alumni Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 went to Alyssa Boynton, Amanda Foster, Amanda Parmagiani, Ariel Foss and Jordan Bragan.  The James McPartland Memorial Scholarship went to Ethan McGary.  The Henry White Fund Scholarships went to Alyssa Boynton, Amanda Foster, Amanda Parmagiani, Ariel Foss and Jordan Bragan. The Mattie Barrett Jacobson Memorial Scholarships went to Aaron Anderson and Jacob Peabody.  Gregory Schools and Corey Woodworth were presented with the Harvest Scholarships and Gregory also received the NMCC Presidential Achievement Award, Region II Scholarship, the Houlton Rifle and Pistol Club Scholarship and the Early College for ME Scholarship.  Jaime Barrows also received the Early College for ME Scholarship and the Katahdin Valley Health Services Scholarship.  Emily DeWitt was presented with the Atwood O. and June P. Smart Scholarship, Jordan Codrey with the Senator George Mitchell Scholarship, Samantha Dickison with the American Legion Post #47 Scholarship, Ashley Hannigan the Gary and Margaret Hagan Scholarship, Rena Cummings with the Masonic Lodge Scholarship, Martha McPartland with the Harriett Dunn Memorial Scholarship, Tasha Ponder with the Houlton Police Department Scholarship and Brianna Williams with the Woodlands Credit Union Scholarship.
    JMG Community Service Awards were presented to Jaime Barrows, Holly Bouvier, Jordan Bragan, Amber Carmichael, Benjamin Codrey-Duff, Jordan Codrey, Jonathan Corey, Courtney Cote, Rena Cummings, Brooke Deveau, EmilyDeWitt, Samantha Dickison, Sierra Farrar, Kristen Fitzpatrick, Casey Hand, Gabriel Hannigan, Kelsey Harris, Patrick Hutchinson, Chelsea-Lee Langley, Levi Ledger, Amanda McAfee, Ethan McGary, Ryan McGary, Kendall McLean, Martha McPartland, Loryn Moran, Vanessa O’Donnell, MacKenzie Older, Amanda Parmigiani, Jacob Peabody, Rachid Rafaoui, Nicholas Rush, Ian Small, Jared Tapley, Rebecca Waite, Kylie Ward and Corey Woodworth.  Awards for participation on the Civil Rights Team went to Gabriel Hannigan and Dustin Lavoie.  The Melmac Principal’s Award was given to Jordan Codrey, the Maine Principal’s Award to Stephannie Kreyssig and the DAR Good Citizenship Award to Jared Tapley.  Christopher Sewell and Stephannie Kressig were recognized for their service on the Dollars for Scholars Committee.
    Class Officer awards went to President Vanessa Sanderson, Vice Presidents Jared Tapley, Martha McPartland, Ariel Foss, Hiba Bilal and Samantha Dickison.  Students of the Month Awards went to Hiba Bilal, Samantha Dickison, and Vanessa O’Donnell.  Brianna Williams received a certificate for perfect attendance and honor medals were presented to Valedictorian Stephannie Kreyssig, Salutatorian Magdalena Garcia, First Honor Essayist Ashley Hannigan and Second Honor Essayist Emily DeWitt.
