Robert “Bo” Zabierek has announced his candidacy for Maine House District #9 as an Independent candidate. This will be his second run for the office, which includes 25 towns and townships in Southern Aroostook and Northern Penobscot Counties.

Zabierek attended the Boston University College of Communication where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications in 1979. He worked in broadcasting for 20 years for CBS\Boston & WSBK-TV38 as their General Services Manager before moving his family to Sherman Mills, Maine where he has owned a home for the past 26 years.
Zabierek has worked for the Region Two School of Applied Technology in Houlton for the past five years; first as an instructor in their Applied Technology Lab at both Katahdin and Southern Aroostook High Schools, and then as an Educational Technician in Houlton in the Auto Mechanics and Auto Body shops. He has been an Applied Academics Teacher at Region Two for the past two school years where his duties include Remediation, Credit Recovery, and National Standards Testing.
He is also a member of the Leadership Team for the Southern Aroostook Math and Science Partnership which is a three year Math and Science grant administered by The Great Schools Partnership in Portland, Maine.
Zabierek has moderated town meetings and has been the Election Warden in Sherman for several years as well as a Caucus Convener for Silver Ridge and Benedicta; Sherman since 1992.
His wife Susanna Kovats taught Spanish at Katahdin High School for the past eight years.
His daughter Christina is in the Maine National Guard Band and attends the University of Maine in Orono and is a Civil Engineering major. His son James attends the University of Maine in Orono and is a Classical Guitar major in their Music Education Program. He also plays bass guitar in a local band from Oakfield called “Kirbside Prophet”.
Zabierek teaching career is committed to Career and Technical Education in Maine. He wants to assure that Southern Aroostook and Northern Penobscot Counties have “new economy and green jobs” that will keep our students here in Maine after they graduate and join the workforce.
In his last campaign for the State House, Zabierek was honored to have received the endorsements of the Maine Education Association, the Maine State Employees’ Union, the AFL-CIO, the Maine Nurses Association, and the Maine People’s Alliance – Vote 2008 Campaign.
