Machias Savings repeat winners

    The Machias Savings Bank (16-1) repeated as the Houlton Little League Majors Division champions last Tuesday night, with a 4-3 win over Houlton Farms Dairy.
    Ryan Dee led Machias’ offense with a double and a pair of singles, while pitching four and two-thirds innings to pick up the win. Josh Beaton doubled and scored a run, while Nick Cowperthwaite, Caleb Tribou and Hunter McLaughlin all had run-scoring doubles for the winners.

    For Houlton Farms Dairy, Ben Tuttle took the tough loss off the mound, going four and two-thirds innings, as well. Tuttle singled and scored a run to back his own cause. He was relieved by Tyler Brown.
    Billy Phillips had two doubles and a single, while Gary Tucker also doubled twice and each player scored a run to lead the offense push for HFD. Along with Tuttle, Logan Ellis and Matt Tuttle each added a single.

    “It was a great game,” said HFD coach Billy Phillips, Sr. “It was very well played by both teams.”
