PRESQUE ISLE – Helen Doherty, 76, died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at her residence in Presque Isle.
She was born in Easton, on Sept. 28, 1933, a daughter of Linwood and Dorothy (West) Johnston.
She worked for Grossmans IGA in Fort Fairfield, and H.A. Pollock Potato Co.
Helen loved life and people. Everyone was her friend.
She is survived by her son, Brian Simpson and his wife Sandy, of Presque Isle; four grandchildren, Leane Sprague, Jeff Simpson, Justin Simpson and Shelly Roope; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters, Vera Scott of Houlton, Lois White of Mapleton, Joyce Rooks of Martin, TN., Bonnie Guerette of Portland, and Debbie Fusco of Oxford, Conn; two brothers, Lynny Johnston of Colorado Springs, Colo, and Philip Johnston of Cape Cod, MA; and a special friend and companion, Herbert C. Haines of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Doherty in 2001.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Reverends Asa Cook and Anthony Scott officiating.
