To the editor:
We have learned that life can turn on a dime. This can happen to anyone at any time.
People say a lot of negative things about living in northern Maine. We have also learned that we would not want to be anywhere else in this world than right here. There are not many other places in America where you could see such kindness, generosity and support from a community. We are proud to live here and grateful each day to have such kind and caring neighbors.
We could fill this page with tales of random acts of kindness displayed to us. The list of people who have helped us over the past several months is enormous!
We feel we cannot properly thank everyone, but we want our gratitude passed along in these words. It sometimes takes a situation like this to realize how much people really care and how amazing the kindness of friends, family and even strangers form the backbone of your life.
Thank you to all the people who came together in our time of need. We cannot begin to name everyone who has helped us, but hope these words reach as many as possible. Their extreme generosity was overwhelming to us and we still shake our heads in amazement that we live in such a supportive community!
Princess Diana said it best. “Carry out random acts of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
