Overwhelming community effort
To the editor:
I wish to thank caring individuals and businesses for sponsoring me in the 2010 Aroostook Relay for Life, held in Caribou on June 4th and 5th. I am excited and pleased to tell you that because of your support, our team, “The Caribou and Presque Isle Inn Revengers,” were the highest fund-raisers, raising over $13,500 of the more than $123,000 pledged during this year’s relay event.
It was a tremendous and overwhelming record-breaking turnout of teams, and participants for the event and overall, nearly tripling last year’s event and total fund-raising efforts.
As you all know, my battle with leukemia has been long and difficult. Although my recovery will be ongoing, I am doing well and just dealing with post transplant issues. Supporting the American Cancer Society and participating in events like the Relay for Life have become very important to me.
Your continued support and contributions have strengthened my efforts to help, mean more to me than you could ever know.
Again, my heartfelt thanks for your support and generosity in my efforts in the 2010 Aroostook Relay and in my continued recovery.
