The Maine Agri-Women will be once again sponsoring their annual Potato Cooking Contest during the 63rd Maine Potato Blossom Festival.
The popular contest will be held on Saturday, July 17 at the Fort Fairfield Elementary School cafeteria. Members of the Maine Agri-Women organization sponsor this contest in hopes of promoting and brining attention to the importance of the potato to Aroostook County.

The six different categories within the annual potato cooking event are: breads, casseroles, desserts, salads, sops and appetizers. Recipes must have fresh Maine potatoes as an ingredient and contestants must bring with them, a copy of the complete recipe to accompany each dish. Contestants may prepare a recipe for two categories.
The winners in each of the six categories will be determined based on fur qualities which are: appearance of each dish; texture; ease of preparation and flavor.
Entrants are encouraged to bring their potato dishes to the school cafeteria between 10 and 10:30 a.m.; judging will begin at 11 a.m.
A grand prize worth $150 will be awarded for the overall best entry, with first-and-second place prizes also awarded in each category.
