The Aroostook Region 5 Emergency Medical Services Council, has announced the 2010 recipient of the Dr. Thomas Brennan Memorial Scholarship selected during the council’s annual meeting in June. This scholarship provides $250 for pre-hospital education to students interested in a career in Emergency Medicine. This years award recipient, Michael Petrin of Easton, was selected from a field of nine applicants and was presented the award by Perry Jackson, service director/paramedic from Crown Ambulance.

Petrin plans to attend Northern Maine Community College this fall to study emergency medicine.
In addition to the scholarship award, Aroostook EMS officials also took part in a presentation ceremony honoring Fred Parsons a paramedic from Presque Isle. Parsons was selected to receive a 2010 “Lifetime Achievement” based on the 30-plus years he has served in EMS, throughout the central Aroostook County area. Parsons, also a longtime member of the Presque Isle Fire Department accepted his Lifetime Achievement honor which was presented by Jay Bradshaw, director of Maine EMS in Augusta.
