JoAnna (Forbush) Hillman, Houlton High School Class of 1999, was recently accepted into the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program. The two-year post-graduate fellowship program based in Atlanta, trains professionals to apply information science and technology to the practice of public health.
Since its inception in 1996, the Public Health Informatics Fellowship has accepted fewer than 100 professionals into the program. Hillman was among over 300 candidates worldwide to apply for four position assignments in the fellowship this year.
Hillman’s fellowship assignment is with the CDC’s Global AIDS Program, where she will work with federal and international health agencies to develop, integrate and improve health information systems to address the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
