District Governor meets Houlton Rotarians

    HOULTON — At a recent meeting of the Houlton Rotary Club, District Governor John Carkner of Fredericton, New Brunswick visited the Rotarians. He explained the goals and vision of the President of Rotary International, Ray Klinginsmith.   He, also, explained what he is hoping for the District during his year as Governor.

    “I believe the way for Rotary to remain viable and vibrant in the next century is to help our clubs to be bigger, better, and bolder,” Klinginsmith said.
    Governor Carkner said that clubs need to focus on membership, the Rotary Foundation, and public relations, which will all lead to growth. He said the Rotary Club needed to “stay the course and grow the force.” He then presented the logo banner for the year “Building Communities – Bridging Continents” to Rotary president, Scott White. There are over 1.2 million Rotary members in more than 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries worldwide.
