Label Shoppers plans grand opening

HOULTON — Jon McLaughlin, executive director of the Southern Aroostook Development Corporation in Houlton, announced that officials at Label Shoppers told him that their newest Maine site would be open for business, Monday, Aug. 2 and that they would have a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Thursday, Aug. 5.
The Houlton store, their 37th, will be located at the Houlton Shopping Plaza on North Street. Label Shoppers is a division of New York based Peter Harris Clothes. The company was founded in 1970.
McLaughlin stated that Label Shoppers claim that their merchandise is discounted 25 –70 percent off what you would pay in a department store.
How is this possible?  Corporate officials told McLaughlin, “We’re all human. We all make mistakes. No secret there. But most people don’t know that famous department or mall stores frequently make mistakes and end up canceling orders. And some of the factories that make these designer collections make mistakes too. They often overproduce.”
McLaughlin said that as a result of these oversights, manufacturers are forced to sell this merchandise at lower prices to make room in their warehouses. To quote an old saying, their loss is your gain.
