LIMESTONE — Last month the engineering firm Stantec relocated from its previous Presque Isle location and landed at the Loring Commerce Centre; the seven Stantec employees are finding that Loring is a perfect match for the northern Maine office that primarily works on airport-related engineering projects.
“The office space here was very nice and very suitable to our needs and as airport consultants, being positioned right next to the airway seemed like a good fit for us,” said Senior Associate Bill Gerrish.
If location is everything then Stantec has found it all at Loring with their new off-the-runway office with ample space and good neighbors; the Loring Development Authority is just down the hall from Stantec which can lead to the formation of some inspired ideas around the watercooler.
According to Stantec officials, “the new location provides an appropriate aviation connection and the potential for future work as the former base [further] develops.”
Stantec’s northern Maine office has led to dozens of large and small airport projects throughout the region, including improvements to the airports in Houlton, Rockland, Greenville and Fredericton, New Brunswick, among others; the company is no stranger to the former Air Force Base, having been involved with the closure of Loring on an environmental level in the mid 1990s.
Employees of the engineering firm officially have been working out of the new location since July 1.
