BANGOR and ORLANDO, FL – Lowell Gene Noyes, 81, husband of the late Natalie (Nash) Noyes, died July 17, 2010 at his home in Orlando with his children at his side after a courageous battle with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS, formerly known as "preleukemia"). He was born July 5, 1929 in Merrill, son of Glen A. and Elizabeth (Pamphrey) Noyes. Gene was a 1947 graduate of Merrill High School and also graduated from Beals Business College, Bangor. He married Natalie Nash in 1958 and they were happily married for over 50 years.
Gene was employed by Fox & Ginn Trucking Co. for more than 30 years. Following his retirement he worked numerous jobs and was a volunteer for Meals for ME. An avid sports fan, he was a Red Sox and Nascar enthusiast. Gene was an active Farm and Little League Coach and enjoyed coaching his boys while they were growing up. He was a member of the Glenburn Evangelical Covenant Church and Rising Virtue Lodge #10 AF & AM of Bangor.
Surviving are five children, Terry Noyes and his fiancée Jody of Leesburg, FL, Glen Noyes Sr. and his wife Loui of Bangor, Melinda Pasciuta and her husband Frank of Orlando, FL, Frank Noyes Sr. and his wife Lynne of Bangor and William Noyes and his wife Darlene of Alton; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Delmont Noyes Sr. of Merrill; two sisters, Marlene Lawlor of Merrill and Duska McLaughlin of Dyer Brook; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jamie.
Relatives and friends called 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Brookings-Smith Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main Street, Brewer where a funeral service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2010 with the Rev. Donald Olson officiating. Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, Glenburn.
