PARKER, Merton O., 91, WOODLAND, August 4, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
WOODLAND – Merton O. Parker, 91, died at his home August 4, 2010. He was born in Woodland, April 18, 1919, the son of Wilson and Minnie (Carman) Parker.
Merton graduated from Caribou High School, and during his senior year, he purchased a farm. He then served in the US Army Infantry 169th Anti Tank Unit during WW II. Merton was employed by the Maine State Inspection Service, and later became a Certified Seed Inspector, working in Homestead, FL, and then retiring from the Porter Seed Farm in Masardis. Merton was a long time member of the Washburn Pentecostal Church.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Lona (Harris) Parker.
He is survived by a son and his wife, Paul and Jeanne Parker of Woodland; daughters and their husbands, Lois and Jay Clark of Houlton, Sharon and Lester Bartley, Joy and John Mooshie, and Faith and Buddy Gridley, all of Tallahassee, FL; a brother, Maurice Parker of Presque Isle; a sister, Pearl Drost of Caribou; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends called at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m., Sunday, at the Washburn Pentecostal Church, with the Rev Bruce Blakney officiating. Military committal services followed at the Riverside Ext.
