    BERUBE, Marie M., 74, PRESQUE ISLE, at Bangor, August 19, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.



 

    PRESQUE ISLE – Marie M. Berube, 74,  died unexpectedly Thursday evening, August 19, 2010, at EMMC in Bangor, from complications of a stroke. She was born in Fort Kent on May 15, 1936, the daughter of Edmund and Estelle (Boutot) LaFrance.
    Marie and Gil owned the first ambulance service in Presque Isle, owned and operated Gil’s Wrecker Service, Gil’s Sanitation and Presque Isle Auto Parts. Marie was very instrumental in each and every one of the businesses. She always told her family that “behind every successful businessman is a good woman”.
    Marie loved good music and you could always find her dancing the nite away.
    She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Gilford; three sons and their wives, Terry and Suzanne, Bruce and Tammy, all of Presque Isle, and Tom and Susan of Washburn; four grandchildren, Alan Berube and his wife, Mary (Sharp) and their children, Michael and Alanna, Ashley and her fiancé, Matt Lunt of Oakland, Brandon and his friend Becky MacDonald of West Chapman, and Morgan Berube of Washburn; two brothers, Carl LaFrance and his wife, Joy of Cannan, Elmer LaFrance of Mass.; two sisters, Bea Jones and her husband Ben of Cali-
fornia, and Florence LaFrance of Presque Isle; a sister-in-law, Joanne LaFrance of  Jefferson.
    She was predeceased by a sister, Florina Cote; and a brother, Wilmer “Kit” LaFrance.
    A mass of Christian burial was celebrated 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 24,  2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, with Rev. Aaron Damboise celebrant. Relatives and friends called 6-8 p.m., Monday, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Interment was at Fairmount Cemetery.
