Easton ladies share party

EASTON NEWS

by Debbie Smith

Guests flooded the home of Terry and Shirley Howlett on Aug. 14. They were there to celebrate the birthdays of the two sisters-in-law, Betty Barnes and Shirley Howlett. They both turned the BIG 60 this year. There were approximately 50 guests present.

Neither Betty Nor Shirley knew the party was for them. Surprise! It’s hard to keep a surprise, but apparently it was. Betty thought the party was for Shirley and Shirley thought the party was for Betty.
We enjoyed a wonderful barbecue of hamburgers and hotdogs and many salads. Oh, of course, we can’t forget the birthday cake and ice cream for dessert. Everyone had a good time.

Visiting

Ruth Ladner came home from Germany to visit with her mom, Arlene, and family members in July. Marvin and Donna Ladner picked Ruth up in Boston and came to Easton as well. They all stayed with Arlene.
While here they all attended the All-School Reunion in Easton. They brought their two grandchildren with them.
Marvin and Donna stayed a week and when they left for New York Arlene and Ruth went to Arlene’s son Alan’s in California. Marvin lives in Monrovia, Calif. They spent two weeks visiting Alan and his family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While there they did some sightseeing and shopping.
Arlene and Ruth returned to Easton on Aug. 1. Ruth had a few days to rest up and then she returned to Berlin, Germany, where she lives.
