Garden Winner

The Patten Woman’s Club 2010 Sweet Pea Garden Contest in the Patten Academy Alumni Park has concluded for another year. Judges observed the gardens throughout the summer and four gardens have received honors. Best of Show was awarded to Don Adams of Patten; first place to Caroline Skinner of Crystal; second place to Emily Hosford of Island Falls, representing Katahdin Trust Company and third place to Shelbe and Cole Lane of Crystal. All of the gardens added a bright spot to the park this summer for visitors to enjoy. The Patten Woman’s Club would like to thank all the gardeners for their participation. Also thanks to all club members and townspeople who helped with planting, weeding, mowing, painting and repairs. All of the effort and community service are appreciated.  Special thanks to judges Norman Pond and Sally Landry. The Patten Woman’s Club will resume regular meeting in September. Area women interested in joining are asked to call Mary Hall at 528-2308 for information regarding membership.
