From the Bunkers: Still a few weeks left of play

The soft breezes of autumn are beginning to have a bite to them, signaling the end of summer and the short golf season, although there may be a few weeks of play left. Most of the competitive play is done.
Congratulations are in order to Club Champions Lou Ann Dwyer and Dylan Flewelling and President’s Cup winner Gabe Goodwin.
Ladies’ Twilight League winners were the Happy Hookers — Pam Mailman, Jennifer Carr, Sarah Howland and Jane Phipps.
The Men’s Twilight League winner is still up for grabs with Dave Edgar/Tom Moakler versus the winner of Chris Williams/Dan Williams and Jerry Adams/Art Nickel.
It has been a very enjoyable season for me personally, with my morning play with Darrell McGuire, Gene McGuire, Dick Gray and Bob Burton. My Twilight League partner Brent McGuire and members of the DeWitt retirement fund contributors on Thursday evenings — Paul Adams, Dick York, Bob Anderson and Dave Moore.
I would like to thank David Grant and the Houlton Community golf course board members for the opportunity to write this column, which was David Moore’s idea, the Pioneer Times, especially Gloria Austin for their patience and Gloria’s corrections in spelling.
Also, the great cooperation from Josh McGuire, Paul Madigan, Zach Goodwin, Pam Mailman, Harriet Gray and all the personnel at the golf course.
I cannot begin to recount all the great memories that this golf course has for me from 1947 until today. I just wish that every person who has enjoyed Houlton Community golf course can find the pleasure that it has given me.
