Publicizing intolerance hurts everyone

To the editor:

I remember well when I was 10, 65 years ago, when my parents took us children on a ferry to get on the Battleship Missouri for us to see, on a gold plaque on the ship’s floor, the signing of surrender on Sept. 2, 1945, from Japan. Now the signing is called V.J. day.

I lived in Portland, ME., at the time. What a celebration as the war ended – all celebrated on Congress St. My brother, Dale, had a paper route and the next morning on his route, he brought home money that was laying on the ground,.

The United States dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki to end this terrible war. How sad it is, countries can’t come to agreements and man suffers. There will always be wars. Everyone gets paid for doing something – they talk about peace. Where is the answer?

Why do they allow someone putting write ups in the paper about burning the Koran Bible — only causes more trouble. Our country needs to think what can happen and stop the ones who dislike someone’s religion. Isn’t this supposed to be good to worship whoever one wants? It’s a good path — to pray to God
