BANGOR — The Katahdin Area Council, Boy Scouts of America Celebrates Centennial Camporee in Bangor Oct. 1-3. The Centennial Camporee will be held in Paul Bunyan Park and Bass Park over the weekend of Oct. 1-3. This event will feature Scout skills, displays by the Maine Army Guard, the Maine Forrest Service, the Maine Warden Service and numerous area fire departments.
The general public is invited to visit the camporee on Saturday Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be an alumni tent and information center located just behind the Chamber of Commerce. All Scout Alumni and friends are encouraged to visit this exhibit, talk about their Scouting experiences and reconnect with Scouting.
Families interested in joining Scouting are especially urged to attend and see Scouting in action. Find out about scouting opportunities in your local area. A public pinewood derby will be held from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
