ELLIS, Gary R., 78, PRESQUE ISLE, September 22, 2010. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Gary R. Ellis, 78, passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 22, 2010. He was born December 31, 1931, in Augusta, the son of Herbert and Adelle (Spencer) Ellis.
Gary grew up in Augusta and was a graduate of Cony High School where he loved and excelled at the sports he participated in. He joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after graduation spending twenty years serving as a master engineer on missiles. After his discharge, Gary graduated from N.M.V.T.I. as an electrician. He also served his community as a deputy sheriff and as a volunteer firefighter. Gary also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and snowmobiling.
Gary was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Linda (Beaulieu) Ellis of Presque Isle; four sons and their families, Maurice Ellis and his wife, Dannette as well as their children, Desiree, Destiny and Derrick, Roger Ellis and his wife, Colleen as well as their daughter, Rachel, Loren Ellis and his children, Christo-pher, Robert, Michelle, Adrien Ellis and his wife, Katrina and their children, Spencer and Kimberly; a step-daughter, Sheila Akeley and her children, Brandon and Mirandah Akeley; two brothers, Wilber Ellis and his wife, Genieva, Brett Ellis and Theresa; many nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife of over thirty years, Agnes (Lavaway) Ellis; and two brothers, Herbert and David Ellis.
Friends called 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2010, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency celebrant.
