Make a Difference Day

Wade resident Mid Bennett is working with the Hospice of Aroostook program making “memory quilts” for those patients under 18 who are losing a loved one and are clients or patients with Hospice of Aroostook. The nationally-recognized “Make a Difference Day” is set aside for individuals or groups to do something to make life better for others.
It is always the fourth Saturday in October, and participants from Washburn, Wade and Perham, along with Castle Hill and other nearby areas, will be gathering on Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Washburn Civic Center to combine their abilities in order to make a few quilts for those in need.
Volunteers are needed for: quilters, cutters, ironing and pressing of fabrics, laying out the square and quilt tacking. The volunteers can set their own hours ranging from one hour to all day. One volunteer who lives in Kenduskeag will be unable to attend the quilting “bee” but was so enthused with the project, she’s making a quilt and will send it as a donation. Also needed are donations of materials and any other sewing notions.
