Students at the Caribou Technology Center quickly learned the importance of teamwork and communication as the two teams raced against each other in the trolley competition. This activity was one of several students participated in during a recent visit from local National Guardsmen who worked with the students helping them learn how strong communication and teamwork skills are a necessity of life.
During this special event, CHS Tech students spent the day participating in specially designed outdoor activities all of which challenged the students mentally and physically.
Many of the CHS Tech instructors cheered their students on while observing the strategies their students considered while attempting to complete each challenge.
Communication and teamwork was definitely the key to success as students rotated through the six different challenges. Some of the tasks included passing a team member through a spider web without touching the web; finding a lost hunter who had been injured and returning the hunter to safety; climbing a rock wall and maneuvering through an obstacle course that required jumping over barrels, running through tires and doing push-ups.
According to Judy Boogie, guidance director at the Technology Center, the students and staff all enjoyed the day’s activities. “Everyone had fun while learning the importance of teamwork and communicating with others both in school and in the work place,” she said.
Boogie also stated, “The National Guardsmen need to be commended for providing activities such as this that allow students to develop real-life skills in an environment that is safe and supportive.”
