ARSH Dale TurnerWASHBURN – Dale Alden Turner, 69, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Presque Isle. He was born at Washburn, September 14, 1941, the son of Bert and Margaret (Sutherland) Turner. Dale attended Washburn schools and was active in the FFA. He was involved in riding clubs showing his Palomino at local fairs. He was employed at Pratt Whitney in New Haven, Conn. until he returned home to marry Cynthia Ward in 1964. Dale acquired his 3rd generation family farming in 1977. He was a self-employed potato farmer, working with his father and eldest son until his retirement in 2008. Dale was an avid hunter and was a member of the Biggest Bucks Club. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family and friends. He had a strong interest in flying and obtained his private pilot’s license for small planes.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 46 years, Cynthia Turner and his father, Bert Turner both of Washburn are his three children, Ward Turner and his wife, Christine of Washburn, Tyler Turner and his wife, Julie of Standish, and Melanie Krum and her husband, Scott of Scarborough; four grandchildren, Rylie Turner of Standish, Brianna and Mitchell Turner of Washburn, and Evan Krum of Scarborough; two sisters, Lorraine McMullen and her husband, Michael of Fairpoint, N.Y. and Jeannie Burnette and her husband, Jerry of Bolt, Va.; one sister-in-law, Isabel Burch of Bellington, Mass.; several aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Turner and his brother-in-law, Philip Burch.

Friends called at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, Saturday, October 2, 2010, from 12 noon until time of services. Funeral services were held, 2 p.m., from the funeral home, with the Rev. George McLaughlin, officiating. Interment took place in the Hillside Grove Cemetery, Crouseville.
