Message of thanks

To the editor:

Thank you to the businesses, community and members for your support. Without it, we could not help homeless persons, enable blind persons to enjoy Blind Camp, special needs people to enjoy winter and summer Special Olympics and Camp Tall Pines in Poland, Maine for the handicapped. We also assist local needy children and adults, give scholarships, entertain special functions at the Veterans Nursing Facility and teach proper flag etiquette. We give graveside services, when asked, to all Veterans.

Donations also enable participants to go to Boy’s State and Girl’s State (a camp program at a college campus that teaches pre-high school senior young men and women about government). We can boast that U.S. Senator Susan Collins is a graduate of Maine’s Girl’s State.

Cost of insurances, utilities, ground and building maintenance comes out of the funds provided from dinners, dances and other types of activities and partly from dues of the members. Our service to God and Country is voluntary.

Special thanks to the Aroostook Republican and WAGM TV for your kind coverage. Again, thank you all for your support, for without it, we could not exist.
