Pierce honored by Bangor Symphony

2008 Hodgdon High School graduate and current University of Maine (Orono) junior, Camille Pierce has been selected to perform with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
Her first appearance, with that prestigious body, was Oct. 3. Pierce is presently pursuing a degree in music performance, with Dean’s List ability. She plans to continue with a masters program when she graduates next year. The BSO appointment will round her resume out.

The day following her arrival in Guatemala, a volcanic eruption engulfed the country in ash just blocks from the school where she was performing. The only “eruption” in Orono, Sunday, was that following the concert when the audience hailed as “spectacular” the music conducted by the brilliant, new conductor, Lucas Richman. A chartered bus load of patrons and Aroostook musicians assessed the first BSO performance as “uplifting and happy!”
Pierce’s first BSO performance was on her dad’s (Dan Pierce) birthday. “No finer gift could a parent receive,” suggests her dad. “Same here,” said Sue Pierce, Camille’s mom.
