Club to present running awards
PRESQUE ISLE – The Aroostook Musterds Running Club will present awards for its 28th County Challenge Series at Nordic Heritage Sports Club on Sunday, Oct. 17.
The club tracks athlete participation in eight road races held throughout Aroostook County in determining the consistently stronger runners of all ages. Points are awarded for overall and age group-specific finishes for each of the races.
Participation awards for running a minimum of five series races and the Aroostook Musterd Runner of the Year will also be presented as will the 2010 Aroostook Musterds scholarship recipient.
The eight Challenge Series races this year were the Wild Katahdin Trust Snow Run in Houlton, the UMPI Spring Runoff 5K in Presque Isle, the S. W. Collins 5K in Caribou, the Musterd Mile in Caribou, the Potato Blossom 5-Miler in Fort Fairfield, the Island Falls Summer Fest 5K, the County Open Half-Marathon in Island Falls and the Caribou Labor Day Road Race.
The series was founded in 1983 and initially consisted of five races run in Fort Kent, Caribou, Fort Fairfield, Presque Isle and Houlton.
