Hewitt named Wade’s
new highway foreman
WASHBURN NEWS
by Christie Cochran
Donnie Hewitt has been a Wade part-time road employee since March. He’s recently been hired on as the town’s full-time highway foreman. This is familiar territory for Donnie, as he’s worked off and on for the Wade crew since his dad Roger was highway foreman for Wade several years ago. He was also part-time for Washburn’s grounds maintenance crew.
During his temporary status, the selectmen noted that he had been extremely busy doing the ditching on the Gardner Creek Road and the South Wade Road and has begun ditching on the New Dunntown Road. He also did some extensive patching on several roads and has many plans for more next summer. He is currently working on winter sand and salt and, weather permitting, will hope to get back to the work on the New Dunntown Road.
The selectmen appreciates the great job he has done for Wade and is proud to have him on the payroll.
