Caribou Rotarians have set the wheels in motion for the organization’s popular 16th Annual Draw. This event is the Caribou Rotary Club’s primary fundraiser each year, with revenue from the event used to fund projects and donations approved by the Board and club for the next fiscal year July 1 through June 30, 2011.

According to Rotarian Doug Hunter, Caribou Rotary president-elect and chairman of the event, “This year’s fundraiser will allow the Rotary Club to continue its long tradition of ‘Service Above Self.’ Specifically this year we are donating money related to special projects for the Caribou Little League, Cary Medical Center, the Caribou Police Department and the Caribou High School Booster’s building project.”

Approximately 20 years ago the Rotary Club began holding an annual dinner and auction, with the monies raised going toward community projects; after a number of years the event was transformed into an annual snowmobile draw which now has become the Annual Cash Draw.

The 2010 Cash Draw features 50 cash drawings which will take place on Saturday, Dec. 11 at 6 :30 p. m. at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. The ticket price includes admission for one individual to the drawing and dance. No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold, creating a 1-in-20 chance of winning.

Ticket prices are $60 each or $50 each for two or more. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win if their ticket is drawn on the Dec. 11 event; attendance is only necessary to claim the $500 bonus door prize.

The 50 cash drawings will include: $6,000, first prize; $5,000, second prize; $4,000, third prize; (one) $1,000; (one) $500; (five) $250; (40) $100; and the $500 bonus door prize.

On the evening of Dec. 11, the event will begin with h’ordeurves and a social time from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The draw will begin at 8 p .m. followed by a dance with music provided by The Nadeau Family.

Area residents are reminded that their donation to the Annual Draw enables the Rotary Club to continue supporting programs of the Caribou Recreation Department, the Caribou School System, Caribou Little League and to provide bicycle helmets to all second-graders in Caribou and in four surrounding communities as well.

Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket for the Caribou  Rotary 16th Annual Draw may contact any Rotarian or contact Hunter at 492-2171.
