Salkind Family Donates Moose
David Salkind and his family participated in the 2010 Controlled Moose Hunt Lottery, receiving three permits to harvest moose from their 400-acre farm in Easton. David harvested an 800-pound bull with his Tikka 7mm Remington Magnum and his 14-year-old son, Josh, harvested a 725-pound cow using his dad’s firearm. Although these were the first moose bagged by dad and son, they are not strangers to the sport of hunting, having successfully hunted antelope, alligators, deer and wild boar. The Salkind family donated Josh’s moose to the Hunters for the Hungry program through the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department. The moose will be used to feed families throughout Aroostook County. Pictured in the upper photo is David Salkind; the bottom photo is his son, Josh.
