XC teams meet in Limestone

LIMESTONE – A cross country meet took place last Wednesday that featured every Aroostook County program, including Caribou, Presque Isle, Washburn, Greater Houlton Christian Academy, Fort Kent and the host Eagles.
Winning the girls meet was Caribou with a score of 27, followed by Presque Isle with a 31. The other schools did not have enough participants to qualify in the team results.

FIFTH PLACE – Emily Wright of the Presque Isle cross country team, shown at an early-season meet, placed fifth in last Wednesday’s meet in Limestone. Her time was 21 minutes, 3 seconds.
Placing first in the girls’ division of 41 runners was Presque Isle’s Alecia Palmer with a time of 18:37, followed by Washburn’s Carsyn Koch, who came in at 18:44. Rounding out the top 10 finishers were: third, Carmen Bragg, Washburn, 20:33; fourth, Dayna Michaud, Caribou, 21:00; fifth, Emily Wright, Presque Isle, 21:03; sixth, Natasha Bishop, Caribou, 21:12; seventh, Jaylee Fox, Presque Isle, 21:33; eighth, Chelsea Bard, Caribou, 21:46; ninth, Lucy Wilcox, Limestone, 21:59; and 10th, Emily Soderberg, Caribou, 22:08.
Destinee Neureuther led the GHCA girls’ runners with a time of 22:20, which was good for 14th.
On the boys’ side, Caribou came in first with a score of 16, followed by Presque Isle with 50, Limestone-MSSM with 83 and GHCA, 98.
Of 54 boys competing, Caribou’s Christian Sleeper came in first with a time of 16:16, followed by teammates D.J. Flynn and Caleb Chapman, who both had times of 16:21. Rounding out the top 10 finishers were: fourth, Jesse Sandstrom, Caribou, 16:23; fifth, Matt Eager, Presque Isle; sixth, Ryan Washington, Caribou, 17:18; seventh, Logan Thibeau, Presque Isle; eighth, Kjetil Rossignol, Caribou, 17:27; ninth, Jake Michaud, Caribou, 17:41; and 10th, Nick Dobson, Caribou, 17:47.
Finishing 18th and leading the way for GHCA was Micah Wiley. Washburn’s top runner was Nick Bragg, who placed 14th in 17:58. Jack Seguin was 23rd and was first overall for the host Eagles. A technical error prevented all the times to be recorded.
The Aroostook All-Star meet was held yesterday in Washburn, while Caribou and Presque Isle will next compete at the Penobscot Valley Conference championship Saturday, which is hosted by John Bapst and will be held in Bangor.
