Haines dedicated to Maine, Aroostook

To the editor:
At this time, as a weak economy is finally making a comeback, we need to keep the momentum and elect representatives who have a studied resolve to work with both sides of the aisle to move forward on important issues that impact our lives and the unique culture of Maine.
Troy Haines is well-versed on issues facing our state. He is knowledgeable and has a high interest in the political process which will serve District 7 well in Augusta. He is ready to tackle the ambitious schedule of the 125th Legislature and keep Aroostook County visible in the decision-making for healthy families, job creation, and education. Having grown up in rural Maine and having experience as a small-business owner, as well as his involvement in community initiatives, Troy won’t be just learning on the job, but will be able to step right in and contribute to the process.
Federal education initiatives keep changing and are passed on to the states to implement. These initiatives don’t always complement state programs already established. We must recognize education as an investment in the future and support education-friendly people that have a positive approach to helping our youth succeed. Troy has been endorsed by the Maine Education Association (MEA) and supports education in Maine schools at all levels.
There is a need to address the decline in the agricultural and timber industries as an important element of our economy in Aroostook County. With his support for farmers and his deep appreciation for preserving our natural resources for business reasons, as well as for recreational activities, Troy will be a voice for our rural Maine area.
Now, more than ever, it matters who represents you. When you cast a vote for Troy Haines Nov. 2nd, it will be a vote for a working legislator working for Maine with Aroostook County in mind.
