To the editor:
My opinion on this is not derived through a phobia or religious beliefs. It’s a matter of rights toward the straight people in the military.
Now, if we allow people to be openly gay and still segregate by gender, then that’s just wrong. So the only logical solution to allowing gays is to have personal rooms with private showers for all soldiers. Yes, that means here and abroad.
If you aren’t familiar with a barracks area, when I joined, it was a 60-man room with no wall dividers. It featured an open shower with no doors and a staging area with no wall dividers or doors. So what’s to keep that person from making unwanted advances toward another soldier? Please don’t say “professionalism” because if that is the case, then there would be no reason to segregate men and women in the first place.
We now have our problem with this issue, and we have the solution. So my question is, who’s going to pay for all of these renovations? My guess is it isn’t Lady Ga Ga.
