Martin runs for re-election

District one includes the Allagash, Ashland, Eagle Lake, Fort Kent, St. Francis, Wallagrass and Plantations of Garfield, Nashville, St. John and Winterville, plus the unorganized territory of Northwest Aroostook.

District 1 incumbent John L. Martin of Eagle Lake is running unopposed for re-election. He first decided to run for office to serve his district, Aroostook County and the State. He has served in the 120th, 121st, 122nd and 123rd Senate as well as the 102nd, 103rd, 104th, 105th, 106th, 107th, 108th, 109th, 110th, 111th, 112th, 113th, 114th, 115th, 116th, 117th, 119th and 124th legislatures of the House of Representatives. He has also served as the speaker of the house.

The most important issues he feels his constituents currently face are education, job creating and environmental issues and his primary goals, if re-elected, are to work with others to accomplish the successful goals and needs of the area.

“I believe that I can do a good job for the people,” he said.
