AR Molloy LorraineNAPPA, CA – Lorraine W. Molloy, 73, passed away Oct. 19, 2010, in Napa, CA, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Caribou, Maine, to Narcisse and Odile Jalbert, and grew up in a family of 14 children. She graduated from Caribou High School in 1955 and worked in her hometown bank. She met Dan Molloy at a dance while he was an airman stationed at Loring Air Force Base. They married on July 5, 1958, and moved to California in 1960.

Lorraine worked for the Napa Unified School District as a teacher’s aide from 1969 to 1988, and focused on children with special needs. Her generosity extended to anyone who needed help, including neighbors, extended family and foster children. Her many accomplishments included six years as president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Caribou, Maine; many years as a volunteer for Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in both Napa and Caribou; Volunteer of the Year in the state of Maine, and several years in the top five; and a special award from President Bush for 4,400 volunteer hours, primarily at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. She touched many lives and was a great example of service to others all of her life.

She is survived by four children: daughter Patty (Randy) Cole, daughter Robin (Tim) Conrads, son Steven (Debra) Molloy, son Damon Molloy, her beloved niece, Shari (Mike) Erickson and siblings Lillian Bonsaint, Gerald Jalbert, Vernon (Jeanie) Jalbert and Linda (Dana) Cyr, and sister-in-law Jeanne (Euclid) Jalbert, all from Caribou; Gertrude Desmond from Virginia, Herman (Claudia) Jalbert from Portland, Maine, Theresa Cole from Florida, Hilda Lewis from Connecticut and Erline Kennedy from Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dan, her favorite “nephew,” Jason and her siblings, Euclid (Jeanne) Jalbert, Florence Kebernick, Alfreda Bell and Ludger Jalbert.
